Understanding the Interface

Be Here Meow centers the signed-in experience on writing in Journal, finding past work in Entries, and managing the account under Account.

  • Account contains profile, password, preferences, export, sync recovery, and deletion controls.

Journal Editor

The title field and rich-text editor fill the journal workspace. Use the Add menu for entry date and image actions. The check button saves the entry and opens its detail page immediately; insights and generated images may continue in the background.

The save indicator reports whether the draft is local, syncing, synchronized, conflicted, or blocked by an error. If a genuinely different local and server version exist, choose which one to keep. Recovery notices float over the editor instead of changing its height.

Writing and browsing remain available for locally stored data without a network connection. Server-only operations identify when reconnection is required.

Entries

Switch between List, Timeline, and Calendar views. The search field and filter menu narrow the full entry catalog by text, tags, mentions, and date. Active filters appear as removable chips, and Clear all restores the complete catalog.

The app loads additional server pages only when the server reports more entries. An empty filtered result therefore offers filter clearing rather than a misleading load-more action.

Entry Details

An entry detail page has two tabs:

  • Entry shows the saved journal content and image.
  • Insights shows analysis progress or completed reflections.

The selected tab is encoded in the URL, so reloading an Insights view keeps it open. Previous and next controls sit beside the tabs and move through the current journal order.

Account Settings

The Account page provides:

  • profile and password changes;
  • theme, musical-key, spell-check, and calendar preferences;
  • failed-sync retry and discard controls when an operation needs attention;
  • online JSON export of cloud-synced entries;
  • permanent account deletion with explicit confirmation and recent identity verification.

The Admin link is visible only to an account with the admin role. When Inner Garden is released, Billing shows the current plan and opens Stripe's hosted checkout or customer portal. Payment details are never entered directly into Be Here Meow.

Mobile and Keyboard Access

The same responsive web interface is used on phones, tablets, and desktops. Menus, tabs, filters, dialogs, and entry controls support keyboard focus and accessible labels; the product does not advertise a separate global shortcut system.
