Getting Started

How do I create an account?

  1. Visit beheremeow.app.
  2. Select Sign Up.
  3. Create an email/password account or continue with Google.
  4. Complete email verification when requested.

Can I start a paid subscription in the app?

When Inner Garden is released, open Account → Billing. Checkout and subscription management use Stripe's hosted pages. Until then, billing navigation and routes remain absent.

Privacy and Security

Is my journal public?

No. Journal entries are scoped to the signed-in account and are not published as a social feed. Be Here Meow still has to process and store journal data to provide sync, search, and other requested features. When you use an AI feature, the selected entry content and context needed for that request are sent to the named AI provider.

Read the Privacy Policy

What cookies does Be Here Meow use?

Essential cookies keep you signed in, protect state-changing requests from cross-site attacks, and safely complete a temporary Google sign-in flow. These are required for the corresponding account features.

Be Here Meow does not use Google Analytics or analytics cookies. Cloudflare Web Analytics may collect aggregate page-performance measurements without reading or writing cookies or browser storage.

Your browser stores account preferences and an offline working copy of journal data so the app can work across reloads and temporary network outages.

Google reCAPTCHA on the public contact form is a separate anti-abuse service and may process technical data under Google's policies.

What happens when I delete an entry?

The entry is permanently removed. There is no trash or 30-day restore window. If deletion starts offline, the app hides the entry locally and completes the server deletion after reconnection.

Export important content first.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Open Account → Export Journal and select Export to download your cloud-synced entries as JSON. The export requires a network connection and does not include an unsynced local draft.

See the Data Management guide for backup and deletion details.

Account Management

How do I change my name or email?

  1. Open Account.
  2. Select Edit Profile.
  3. Update your name or email and submit the form while online.

Changing the email address requires verification of the new address. Use the new email the next time you sign in.

How do I change my password?

  1. Open Account.
  2. Select Change Password.
  3. Enter the current password and the new password twice.
  4. Submit while online.

New passwords must be 8 to 128 characters. A successful change ends the account's other sessions.

I forgot my password. What should I do?

  1. Open Reset password.
  2. Enter your account email.
  3. Follow the link in the reset email.
  4. Choose a new password.

Check the spam folder and verify the address before requesting another email. Repeated requests are rate-limited for account safety.

Can I delete my account?

Yes. Export first, then open Account → Danger Zone → Delete Account. Type DELETE ACCOUNT exactly. If the current session is no longer recent, the app asks you to confirm your identity with your password or connected sign-in provider.

Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. It first cancels any Stripe customer and active subscriptions, then removes the account, journal entries, sessions, authentication records, matching newsletter subscription, and the current browser's offline journal. If billing cannot be canceled safely, the account is not deleted. Media cleanup continues through a retryable background job. Clear site data separately on any other device that may still hold an offline copy.

How do I cancel a subscription?

Open Account → Billing and select Manage billing to use Stripe's customer portal. Canceling a membership does not delete your account or journal. If self-service billing is disabled, contact support from that page.
